Focus Mode: blocking distractions on a schedule.

Create schedules that block distracting websites during study or work hours. It is the same filtering technology that powers the Kids Mode web filter, applied to your own time.

What Focus Mode does

Focus Mode is a self-imposed boundary. During the hours you choose, distracting website categories are blocked, so opening one mid-study leads to a block page instead of forty lost minutes. Outside those hours everything works normally.

Create a schedule

Open Focus Mode and create a new schedule. Give it a name such as "Study" or "Work", pick the days it applies to, and set the start and end times. You can create more than one schedule, for example one for weekday evenings and one for weekend afternoons.

Choose what to block

Select the website categories you want blocked during the schedule: social media, video, games and similar distractions. The filtering runs through the same technology used by the Kids Mode web filter and the Secure DNS protection, so it applies across the browser and apps that open web links.

During a focus block

When the schedule is active, sites in your chosen categories are blocked and you are shown the remaining time in the block. When the schedule ends, the filter lifts automatically, so there is no need to remember to turn anything off.

Tip: be honest with yourself when choosing categories. The point of Focus Mode is that deciding once, in advance, is easier than deciding every time a distraction appears.
