What Kids Mode does
Kids Mode is designed for a child's device. When it is on, the apps you choose are locked behind your parent PIN, websites are filtered against unsuitable categories, and the device follows the bedtime schedule you set.
Set your parent PIN
Before enabling Kids Mode, the app asks you to create a parent PIN. This PIN protects the Kids Mode settings: only someone who knows it can change the locked apps, the web filter or the bedtime schedule, or turn Kids Mode off. Choose a PIN your child cannot guess, and one you will not forget.
Turn on Kids Mode and choose locked apps
Open Kids Mode, enter your parent PIN and follow the setup flow. You will see the list of apps installed on the device. Pick the ones that should require the parent PIN to open. Everything else stays normally usable, so a phone used for school apps and calls is not fully locked down.
Configure the web filter
The web filter blocks website categories that are unsuitable for children while Kids Mode is on. It uses the same filtering technology that powers Focus Mode and the Secure DNS protection, applied to the child's device.
Set a bedtime schedule
Choose the hours during which the device should be off-limits, for example at night. During bedtime, the apps you selected are locked and your child is nudged toward putting the phone down. The schedule repeats daily until you change it.
Pair your child's device
To follow what happens on the child's phone from your own, pair it to your family group. See Managing Your Family for the pairing steps and what the daily report shows.
